  • The signed agreement aims to design an efficient logistics network for the transportation, storage, and distribution of steel coils that Hydnum Steel will produce at its Puertollano plant.

Hydnum Steel, the first green steel plant in Spain, and Euroports, one of the leading port and logistics operators in Europe, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop integrated logistics solutions that will optimise the steel supply chain across the continent. Under this agreement, both companies will work closely in the design and implementation of an efficient and sustainable logistics network, focused on improving the transportation, storage, and distribution of the steel coils that Hydnum Steel will produce at its Puertollano plant. The collaboration also considers efficient and reliable logistics solutions for key steelmaking raw materials such as ferrous scrap, green metallics, and iron ore from various sources and different origins. This partnership is based on Europort’s expertise in port infrastructure management and logistics services. For its part, Hydnum Steel requires a reliable logistics service for the import of iron ore and scrap metal, as well as the export of green steel coils.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE MOU

  • Supply chain optimisation: Implementation of innovative solutions to reduce time and costs in the transportation handling steel products from production plant final customers.
  • Sustainability: Development of logistics practices that minimise carbon footprint, promoting the use multimodal transportation and clean technologies.
  • Operational efficiency: Coordination between production and distribution, ensuring faster more reliable delivery to European markets.
  • Growth and expansion: Access to new markets customers through a robust well-structured logistics network. Growth and expansion: Access to new markets customers through a robust well-structured logistics network.

According to Fernando Pessanha, Chief Strategy Officer at Hydnum Steel, “this agreement represents a significant step towards improving our supply chain. We will be able to offer tocustomers high-quality green steel products with maximum efficiency and sustainability. The same concept applies to key strategic raw materials like ferrous scrap and iron ore. The experience and infrastructure of Euroports will be crucial in achieving these goals.”

Carlos Soleto, MED Business Development Manager of Euroports, added, “This agreementis testimony to Euroports’ international expertise in port infrastructure for the steel industry. Our extensive experience in logistics and port operations will enable us to provideintegrated solutions that enhance Hydnum Steel’s competitiveness in the Europeanmarket. Together, we will drive innovation and sustainability in the steel supply chain.”
