Hydnum Steel and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha collaborate to promote employment and training
- Synergies sought to align the future labor needs of the green steel plant with the educational provisions available in the autonomous community.

November 16, 2023. Representatives of Hydnum Steel met today in Toledo with those responsible for employment and training policies for the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha to analyze strategies of collaboration to align the future labor needs of the green steel plant with the educational provisions available in the autonomous community.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Employment of the Junta, Nuria Chust, the Director General of Employment, Elena García; Vocational Training for the Workplace, Marta Roldán; and Vocational Training, José Rodrigo Cerrillo Cerrillo. The Hydnum Steel delegation was headed by the company’s Talent Director, Patricia Vázquez.
During the meeting, the professional profiles required by the steel company and the associated educational requirements were presented. 70% of the jobs will be filled with vocational training personnel from various branches, trades, and professions, and 20% with graduates, mainly in Engineering. The remaining 10% will correspond to personnel with no initial qualifications who will be provided with the necessary training.
Emphasis was also placed on the stable and quality employment that Hydnum Steel will provide, as well as on the need to establish public-private collaboration synergies to optimize the positive impact that the new industry will have on sustainable economic development and job creation in the autonomous community.
About Hydnum Steel
The Puertollano factory is one of the European Union’ s flagship projects for green steel, thanks to the use of renewable energies and green hydrogen no CO2 emissions are generated in the production process. The initiative will create 1,000 direct jobs, 400 of them in the first phase. The plant will start producing 1.5 million tons of hot-rolled steel coils in 2026 and is projected to have an annual capacity of 2.6 million tons from 2030 onwards.
